Indefatigable (frégate)
Vedette matière nom commun. S'emploie en tête de vedette.
Navire de 64 canons de la classe "Ardent" mis à flot en 1784. Devenu navire rasé ("razee",
en anglais) de type frégate avec 38 canons en 1795 sous le commandement du capitaine
Edward Pellew (1795-1799), qui lui fait connaître la renommée pendant les guerres
de la Révolution française, détruisant notamment le navire de ligne français "Droits
de l'homme" en 1797. Connaît d'autres coups d'éclats pendant les guerres napoléoniennes
(capitaine Graham Moore, 1803-1805). Démantelé en 1816. Connaît une seconde vie littéraire
sous la plume de l'écrivain C. S. Forester (1899-1966), dans la série de romans "Hornblower".
Sept autres navires de guerre de la Royal Navy portent ce nom, mais celui-ci est la
seule frégate.
