Chef-lieu de Saint-Barthélémy, sur la côte sud de l'île. D'abord dénommé "Le Carénage"
par les Français - lorsqu'ils achetèrent l'île à l'Ordre de Malte au 17e siècle -
le bourg portuaire prit son nom actuel en 1787 - en l'honneur du roi de Suède Gustave
III - au moment où l'île fut cédée à la Suède, en échange d'un droit d'entrepôt à
Göteborg (l'île fut ensuite revendue à la France en 1878).
