"Das Testamentum Salomonis erzählt die legendäre Geschichte von König Salomo, der, unterstützt von Dämonen, den Jerusalemer Tempel erbauen ließ. Als ein Dämon den Lieblingsdiener Salomos befällt, bittet der König Gott um Hilfe. Und tatsächlich sendet dieser den Erzengel Michael, um Salomo einen magischen Siegelring zu überreichen, der ihn dazu befähigt, Dämonen zu rufen und zu binden. So bezwingt Salomo nacheinander eine Reihe von Dämonen und macht sie für den Tempelbau dienstbar. Der vorliegende Band versammelt sechs überwiegend editionsphilologisch ausgerichtete Beiträge und vier Studien zu dieser spätantiken parabiblischen Schrift. Die Beiträge widmen sich der griechischen, arabischen, koptischen und georgischen Tradition um König Salomo als Exorzist und Tempelbauer. Sie bieten neue Zugänge zu bekannten Traditionen nebst editorisch neu erschlossenem Quellenmaterial."
