'Gold of the great Steppe' explores the world of the Saka people, who lived in the
first millennium BC and were among the earliest creators of Scythian material culture.
Including contributions from experts at Nazarbayev University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National
University, and the University of Cambridge, the book details the results of new research
by archaeologists in East Kazakhstan. It unpicks the human stories behind intricate
gold artefacts, demonstrating that by looking through a scientific lens we can begin
to understand the complexity and brilliance of Saka society. Accompanying an exhibition
at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, of artefacts from Saka burial mounds and settlements,
this is a richly illustrated celebration of new archaeological discoveries grounded
in decades of careful research
Autres contributeurs : Saltanat Amir, Claudia Chang, Marcos Martinón-Torres and Laerke
