The film tells of the return of the wolves and of the livestock guardian dogs. With touching observations of puppies growing up in a sheep herd and of wolf puppies in a wolf family. Two tight related protagonists with very different developments and tasks: One protects the livestock. The other preserves the health of nature. We experience the different socialization of the two. The young dog regards his flock of sheep as family, the young wolf grows into his pack. With large pictures of unspoilt and newly growing landscapes: the wild, unspoilt Abruzzo in Italy with its national parks and Lusatia in Germany with its former military training areas and post-mining landscapes. The renaissance of the livestock guardian dogs may be key for the sustainable return of wolves and other large predators to their ancient tribal areas be. And at the same time a key for the departure for a new understanding of nature and wilderness in 21st century Europe. (source : festival "Deauville green awards")
