account of members of the Old World succulent plant genus Kalanchoe (Crassulaceae)
in southern Africa. To date, interest in Kalanchoe has often focused on the importance
of a selected few Madagascan species in the horticultural trade. This situation is
here rectified with a full treatment of the classification, biology, and cultivation
of Kalanchoe in southern Africa. The characteristics and ecology of the species are
discussed, including their distribution ranges and habitat preferences. Additional
content includes coverage of species of Kalanchoe that are known to be toxic to grazing
