York City to Lake George, a view of the first engagement of the battle, and a view
of the second engagement. Includes a plan of Fort Lyman, also called Fort Edward,
and a plan of Fort William Henry. Military aspects include encampments, soldiers and
native Americans fighting, wagons, cannons, muskets or guns, canoes, tomahawks, scale,
and flags. Items in the image are numbered for identification in separate accompanying
text.. - This map was drawn by Samuel Blodget, a civilian member of Sir William Johnson's
English force and their native American allies led by the Mohawk war chief, King Hendrick.
Because of the care with which the views of the action were drawn, described, and
then engraved, few battles of the period are better understood than this one. Blodget's
work was first published in Boston, but was then re-engraved by Thomas Jefferys. It
was accompanied by a text description of the battle (shelved separately).
