Hearing of a narrow path which led up to the Plains of Abraham above the town, he led his troops up at night. The brief battle which ensued cost both generals their lives and the French their foothold in North America.Written by a senior officer with the 35th Regiment (Royal Sussex), this journal was probably the work of Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Fletcher. The first eight leaves of this journal have been lost, making identification of the author uncertain, but Fletcher was the only senior officer associated with the regiment at this time who could have written the journal. Le général britannique James Wolfe tenta d'abord d'attaquer les Français frontalement à Québec, mais fut repoussé. Informé d'un sentier étroit menant sur les hauteurs de la ville, les plaines d'Abraham, il y conduisit ses troupes la nuit. La brève bataille qui s'en suivit coûta la vie aux deux généraux [Wolfe, Montcalm], et les Français perdirent leur implantation. Le document est probablement écrit par Le Lieutenant colonel Henry Fletcher. L'absence des 8 premières pages rendent difficiles l'identification de l'auteur, mais Fletcher est le seul officier supérieur qui aurait pu écrire ce document
