Exhibition centered around famous author and poet Oswald de Andrade, presenting close
to 60 works, between paintings, photographs, drawings and extensive iconography from
the 1930's and 1940's, a time that corresponds to his communist or Marxist phase and
after his divorce to artist Tarsila do Amaral (because of his romance with communist
writer Patrícia Rehder Galvao (Pagu), who become his third wife in 1930). Oswald
and Patricia Galvao were portrayed by Cándido Portinari, Emiliano Di Cavalcanti and
Lasar Segall (including portraits of Maria Antonieta d' Alkmin, Oswald's later wife).
Curator Geneses Andrade defines the exposition "around the revolutions, romances,
verses and portraits. After the strident effervescence of the 1920's - that started
with the Semana de 22 and culminates with the foundation of the Movimento Antropofágico
-, we enter a phase of ideology of culture, with an intense participation from the
artists in the social and political movements of the epoch."
