The international conference to be held from 28 to 30 January 2016 at the University of Saarland will be devoted to contemporary French and Francophone medical writers, a group of authors that allows to approach the complex relationship between literature and medicine and to promote a transdisciplinary dialogue between these often opposing scientific disciplines. In addition to the motivations to barter the knife against the pen, it will discuss the various forms of transfer process between literary and medical knowledge, as well as the influence of medical writing on the literary and, conversely, the aesthetic and literary dimension of medical texts. The theme will also be considered in an intercultural perspective with the consideration of authors of non-European Francophone spaces
