Country girl Fereshteh and city girl Roya meet at Tehran University and become friends. Their friendship is clouded by the presence of a young man who stalks the pretty Fereshteh. When the stalker hurts Fareshteh's cousin, she is blamed for bringing shame on the family and her father forces her to return home. The stalker follows her to her homethown and she is forced into a marriage with a man she does not love. Her friend Roya, meanwhile is living precisely the sort of life that Fereshteh aspires to.
