Note(s) sur l'oeuvre :
Vase grec en terre cuite ayant pour dimension : 56 cm (H). - Description : sur la face A, Œnomaos (barbu, portant un casque à cimier et une cuirasse sur un chitoniskos brodé) se tient près d'un autel surmonté par le xoanon d'Artémis. Un serviteur lui tend un plat et un coffret, tandis qu'un autre amène un bélier au sacrifice. Sur la droite, Pélops et Hippodamie s'éloignent sur leur char. Au registre supérieur, sur la gauche, un autre char est mené par Myrtilos. Au centre et à droite, les divnités olympiennes (Poséidon, Athéna, Zeus, Ganymède, Aphrodite) assistent à la scène. Tous les personnages sont identifiés par les inscriptions. Sur la face B, Dionysos, imberbe, les cheveux longs, est assis sur un rocher. Il tient un thyrse et est accompagné par deux ménades et un satyre.
Numéro d'Inventaire du Musée : inv. 82920 (H 2200). - Attribution : Peintre d'Œnomaos (actif à Athènes entre 400 et 390 av. J.-C.). - Ancienne collection de Caroline Murat, reine de Naples.
