Le premier théâtre ouvrit en 1884 sous le nom de "The Empire Theatre" avant de devenir
un music-hall sous le nom de "The Empire Theatre of Varieties" en 1887 puis reprit
son nom initial en 1898. - Le théâtre ferma et fut démoli partiellement en 1927 avant
de réouvrir en 1928 en tant que "super cinema". - En 1962, il fut reconstruit en y
ajoutant une salle de bal (aujourd'hui transformé en casino).
