On s'accorde généralement à reconnaître Léon de Modène comme l'auteur, bien qu'il prétende en avoir recopié une éd. publiée en 1500 à Alcalá et signée par un certain rabbin Amitai bar Yedaiah ibn Raz (par ailleurs inconnu), afin d'en écrire la réfutation ("Sha'agat aryeh", restée inachevée).
Ouvrage de controverse anti-talmudique.
