Naissance : 1992-03-09

Fondé en 1992 par Ratz, Mapam et Shinui, comme une liste électorale commune aux élections de la 13ème Knesset, Meretz a perdu plus tard la majorité des membres de Shinui. Suite à son échec électoral de 2003, Meretz s'est allié au mouvement Shachar et au parti haBehirah hademokratit pour fonder Yachad. Ce parti s'appele Meretz-Yachad depuis 2005. Ses publications ne portent cependant que "Meretz".
