Abbaye de Bénédictines fondée en 1109 par Raoul de Beaumont, dont la soeur Godechilde,
religieuse du Ronceray, fut la première abbesse. Elle fut réformée en 1636 en étroite
dépendance avec l'abbaye Saint-Vincent du Mans. Fermée à la Révolution. L'abbatiale
devint église paroissiale.
