Créée par la loi du 25 septembre 1995 (prenant effet le 1er octobre 1995), la Stiftung
Zentral- und Landesbibliothek nommée plus communement Zentral-und Landesbibliothek,
est une fondation englobant l'Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek et la Berliner Stadtsbibliothek.
Depuis le 1er octobre 1996, l'unité organisationnelle et structurelle des deux maisons
a été mise en vigueur. Le 1er janvier 2005, la Senatsbibliothek intègre cette fondation,
qui est le symbole de réussite de la réunification allemande.
