"הספר מפרט כיצד חתר אבן סעוד, המנהיג הערבי שהקים וקידם את ממלכתו על יסוד האמונה הווהאבית, למציאת פתרון לסכסוך בפלסטין. במדיניותו הוא פעל למתן את התביעה ואת הפעילות של הפלסטינים ומדינות ערב, בד בבד עם הבטחת קיומו של היישוב היהודי בארץ. לכאורה גישה זו מנוגדת ניגוד מובנה בין דרישות הדת וההתנגדות הערבית הכללית להתיישבות היהודית בפלסטין לבין השלמה עם המפעל הציוני שגדל והתרחב. אולם הוא פעל כך כדי להגן על אינטרסים חשובים של ערב הסעודית שעמדו בסכנה מעצם קיומו של הסכסוך, והאפשרות שהחרפתו תמוטט את היציבות במזרח התיכון. בניו-יורשיו המשיכו את המדיניות הזאת, והיא באה לידי ביטוי מובהק ביזמת פהד מ-1981 וביזמת עבדאללה מ-2002 שהפכה ליזמה הערבית לשלום של הליגה הערבית והמדינות המוסלמיות. זהו ספר יסוד למבקשים להכיר את התהליכים במזרח התיכון מאז המחצית הראשונה של המאה העשרים". -- כריכה אחורית
