Résumé : "No hero is more famous than Prince Marko. National hero Serbs, and all South Slavs
from the Alps to the Black Sea, a giant epic sung in hundreds of songs and legends,
has grown into the most famous medieval person from this area. Centuries of mythologizing
suppressed the facts about Mark as a real historical person and ruler who gained respect
and contemporaries and descendants. National consciousness experiencing it as a mere
vassal of the Turkish and a marginal political figure, despite what it says in plenty
of history books. Sounds almost incredible that so far there was no comprehensive
biography of Prince Marko. This book will try to first tell the whole and true story
of his life: the story of how he took part in battles a medieval monarch and warrior,
often traveling, spending time hunting or reading, attended celebrations and weddings;
he led a private life (married at least three times), as well as having as a knight.
The story of the historic Marko is set in the broader framework of the tumultuous
14th century, the Serbian medieval society and time in which he lived as one of the
most famous figures in Serbian history."
