Amendement à la loi fédérale de 1793, qui prévoit l'arrestation et le retour des esclaves en fuite vers un autre état ou territoire fédéral, la loi de 1850 interdit aux fugitifs de témoigner en leur propre nom, et de bénéficier d'un procès comportant la présence d'un jury.
Promulguée en 1850 par le président Millard Fillmore. - Abrogée par le congrès en 1864.
