Tell el-Amarna (Égypte ; site archéologique) -- Tombe d'Akhenaton

Tombeau royal de la "Vallée royale" - ou "Wadi royal" -, à env. 12-13 km à l'est des
vestiges de Tell el-Amarna, entre la nécropole du nord et celle du sud, où furent
inhumés Aménophis IV (Akhenaton), 10e pharaon de la 18e dynastie, et ses proches.
Au début du règne de Toutankhamon, le corps du pharaon fut ramené à Thèbes, sans que
l'on sache exactement aujourd'hui où il a été ré-inhumé ; 2 tombes ont plus particulièrement
retenu l'attention des archéologues : la WV25 (Vallée de l'Ouest), tombe initialement
choisie et creusée par Akhenaton mais demeurée inachevée après le choix du roi de
s'implanter dans sa nouvelle cité (Akhetaton / Tell el-Amarna), et la KV55 (Vallée
des Rois), où furent plusieurs objets portant son cartouche (parmi d'autres objets
et ossements royaux provenant de Tell el-Amarna).
