Le parlement hongrois fut construit d'après les plans de l'architecte Imre Steindl
(1839-1902) de 1885 à 1902 suite au concours publié dans la loi LVIII de l'an 1880
et la construction ordonnée par la loi IX de l'an 1884. La première séance eut lieu
le 8 juin 1896. Auparavant, les Chambres haute et basse [Alsó -és Felsőtábla] se trouvaient
à Pozsony (aujourd'hui Bratislava, Slovaquie).
