Ancienne capitale d'un royaume araméen, à l'extrême nord de la Syrie, proche de la
frontière turque, qui, env. 3000 ans après, s'est développée sur le tell Halaf, site
d'occupation préhistorique ayant donné son nom à la culture de Halaf. Elle fut ensuite
conquise par les Assyriens au VIIIe siècle av. J.-C..
