מוזיאון ארץ-ישראל בתל-אביב הציג מה-10 בנובמבר 2011 את "תמונות מארץ התנ"ך" – תערוכה יוצאת דופן של צילומים נדירים השוכנים דרך קבע במוזיאון היהודי ההיסטורי באמסטרדם והוצגו עתה לראשונה בישראל. ‬ ‫ בסוף המאה ה-19 ובראשית המאה ה-20 עסקו צלמי "אמריקן קולוני" מירושלים בתיעוד החיים, האנשים והאתרים בארץ-ישראל. הם הנציחו באלפי צילומים באיכות מעולה את חיי היום-יום המסורתיים של תושבי הערים והכפרים, יושבי הקבע והנוודים. מבחינתם, כאנשים מאמינים, זו הייתה פתיחת צוהר חשוב לאורח החיים של תקופת התנ"ך והמחשה של הרקע לסיפורי המקרא. חלק מהצילומים נצבעו אחד לאחד ביד-אמן ונמכרו לתיירים ולחוקרים. מבחר מהם מוצג לראשונה בארץ בתערוכה זו, באדיבות המוזיאון היהודי ההיסטורי באמסטרדם, הולנד, ובשיתוף פעולה עמו. אוצרי התערוכה, ד"ר איתן איילון וד"ר אנטון קראס, התמקדו בצילומים המנציחים אנשים במלאכתם, ברגעי חיים אותנטיים בבית ובשדה, ובמסורות שרובן חלפו ונעלמו במשך השנים. הצילומים המרהיבים חושפים דמויות ונופים שכמותם נראו בוודאי גם לפני אלפי שנים, בימי אבותינו
