Note(s) : Full-color facsimile of the Sobieski hours, a book of hours for the use of Paris planned in the workshop of the Bedford Master, Paris. The manuscript was illuminated in three workshops between approximately 1430 and 1440, and includes miniatures by Bedford Master, the Fastolf Master, and the Master of the Munich Golden Legend. Formerly owned by John III Sobieski, King of Poland, the manuscript is currently preserved in the Royal Library, Windsor Castle (inventory number RCIN 1142248). - Commentary by Jenny Stratford, with an introduction by Jane Roberts, and a foreword by HRH The Prince of Wales. - Edition of 680 copies numbered with Arabic numerals; an additional 60 copies, numbered in Roman numerals, are reserved for archival purposes. - The facsimile is bound in red velvet, with two decorative gold medallions, eight decorative gold corner-pieces and two gold clasps. The medallions bear the crowned initials JRP (Johannes rex Poloniae), the monogram of John, King of Poland. - Issued in a plexiglass case (32 x 24 x 14 cm). - Title from colophon of facsimile. - Bibliographical references
